Public Tours

Step back in time when you take Preservation Dallas’ public tours of the Wilson Historic District, the Wilson House and St. James AME Church. You’ll see stunning examples of Queen Anne and other Victorian architecture, as well NeoClassical design. Restored and maintained through generous support by the Meadows Foundation, these beautiful structures have been adapted for reuse and now serve as headquarters for many nonprofit organizations.

The tours include:

The Wilson House

Tour the downstairs of this elegant Queen Anne Victorian mansion that now houses the Preservation Center. The tour takes between 10 and 30 minutes depending upon the size of the group.

St. James AME Church

Explore this NeoClassical church, designed by Dallas’ first African American architect, William Sydney Pittman.

Wilson Block Historic District

Take a guided walk around two blocks of charming Victorian buildings located on historic Swiss Avenue.

Free public tours are available Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Although no appointment is necessary, groups are encouraged to make advance reservations. To arrange special custom tours or schedule a group, please call (214) 821-3290.
