2020 Preservation Achievement Awards

The 21st annual Preservation Achievement Awards event was held virtually due to the pandemic. Attendees were able to join from the comfort of their  home to hear about all of the inspiring preservation projects and people involved in preservation!

2020 Award Recipients

There were some incredible projects that received awards in 2020. Congratulations to the winning projects:

Gail Thoma Patterson Award

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum Boxcar project received the prestigious Gail Thoma Patterson Award for an outstanding restoration of a historic resource.

 

Special Recognition Awards

There were several special recognition awards for contributions to historic preservation by a person or organization given out, including:

Craftsmanship Award

  • The City of Dallas Archives

 

Spirit of Preservation Awards

  • Carolyn Brown
  • Tenth Street Neighborhood Resident’s Organization

 

Education Award

  • Finding Little Egypt Project

Special Tribute

The awards also included a special tribute to the City of Dallas Park & Recreation Department for all that they have done to preserve Dallas’ historic parks and the historic features within them. The Department has received more Preservation Achievement Honor Awards than any other organization in the city and we applaud their list of stellar projects.

Past honorees have included Merriman Anderson Architects, Downtown Dallas Inc., the City of Dallas, Sixth Floor Museum, Bishop Arts District, Swiss Avenue Historic District, Meadows Foundation and Matthews Southwest.
