We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Crain has joined Preservation Dallas as our new Executive Director. With her extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, deep passion for history, and proven track record as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Director of Old City Park, Sarah is exceptionally well-equipped to advance the mission of Preservation Dallas. Her strong connections within the Dallas community further strengthen our confidence in her leadership.

Sarah Crain has worked for Old City Park since 2019. Under her leadership, she spearheaded a comprehensive rebranding of the park to better serve both the Cedars Community and the broader Dallas area to create better brand awareness for Dallas’s oldest park. Her dedication to community service and historical preservation began long before her tenure at Old City Park. From an early age, Sarah was exposed to a range of historic preservation issues and visited numerous historic sites, fueling her dedication to Texas history and preservation. One of her fondest memories includes visiting the excavations of La Belle, La Salle’s ship that embarked on its voyage from France in 1684 and tragically sank in Matagorda Bay two years later.

Sarah believes that the heart of any nonprofit lies in its commitment to service. The Latin motto “serviam,” meaning “I will serve,” has guided her from her time at Ursuline Academy of Dallas. She approaches her work with a focus on key questions: Who are we serving? How are we serving them? And how can we improve our service? We are excited to see Sarah bring this ethos to Preservation Dallas.

In addition to her role at Preservation Dallas, Sarah serves on the Ursuline Academy Alumnae Board, Texas State Historical Association Finance Committee, and is the Texas Map Society.

We look forward to welcoming Sarah as she begins her role as Executive Director and are grateful for your continued support of Preservation Dallas.
